When asked where I’m from, I’m not really sure what to say. I was born in Bavaria, but my family quickly returned to northern Scotland and I lived my first couple years of life there. However, the rainy winters and windy moor lands were not enough to satisfy my parent’s love for skiing, and they relocated to an RV, traveling the many resorts of North America. After a year traveling around the country skiing, hiking, and exploring, we settled in tiny Crested Butte, Co. After my parent’s divorce I lived between Crested Butte and the highlands of Scotland.

My mum founded the Saturday ski program, CB Cruisers, through the Crested Butte Ski School, which encouraged kids to develop their passion for skiing. Through coaches such as Barb Hamblett, who now works for MSI, I was introduced to powder, playing, and jumping off mini cliffs that would make any six year-old fall in love with the snow. I also joined the Nordic team, danced (ballet, tap, and jazz), played volleyball, soccer, ran track, and took piano lessons. I guess you could say I was the extracurricular kid.

After playing every sport offered to me in Crested Butte, I enrolled at Crested Butte Academy and began ski racing. It taught me the skills I needed to develop into the athlete I am today, but I just couldn’t drag myself away from powder days to chase gates, and eventually quit racing to join the freeride team. With the likes of Wendy Fisher as my coach, I skied lines I never would of considered before and entered my first big mountain comp. The rest, is history.

I now live in Salt Lake City and attend the University of Utah. I’m on the 10 year plan, as they say, because I haven’t quite figured out how to take classes during the Spring semester. I get to ski everyday in the winter, mtn. bike all summer, and challenge both my body and mind throughout the year. Although I may just geek out on you just a little bit on the chairlift, my roommate Vanessa has nicknamed me acadamia afterall. When I’m not skiing, I’m probably, reading, cooking (or baking) gluten-free delicousness, yogifying, playing, taking photos, writing, or loving life with the wonderful friends I’ve found in Salt Lake. If you thought rad girls were hard to find, you clearly weren’t looking there.
