Ski Sorority

Some people think it’s just about impossible to find an awesome girl to go ride, rip, or hike with, but in the SLC Community, I couldn’t have more cool girls then if I’d actually joined a sorority. And that would defeat the purpose, because I doubt any of those girls would be as rad and adventurous as the ladies I’ve met the past few years.

The Ski Sorority was born on accident, four girls living together in Sugarhouse, all involved in the ski industry in various ways. Vanessa Pierce, freelance journalist and former editor at Ski Journal, Suzanne Grahame,  pro-skier and base jumper, Jackie Martain, a coach for Rowmark’s ski team and myself. When Vanessa first pulled up to the house from Jackson Hole, she arrived to three girls cooking, perhaps in their underwear, a flourescent Scott ski pole hanging above the door, and lots of confusion. Just like her good ‘ol sorority days back at Alpha Phi. Thus the ski sorority was born.

We cook together, drink copius amounts of wine, ski, ride our bicycles, hike, and of course, celebrate cul-tuuure; because every lady needs a little bit of culture. Good thing Salt Lake City has gallery strolls once a month to balance all those bro-brah moments off the slope. Can’t find a lady to go touring? We found eleven. We toured the Wasatch on the Tour for the Cure last April. We may of had champagne, pink rings, enough whiskey to get a small army drunk and a slight miscommunication on how much propane was needed…. but it’s all about experiences right?
